Add a DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL Watermark to Your Word 2002 Document
There are times when you want text to appear faintly behind the
content of your Microsoft Word document. For example, maybe you want the
word "CONFIDENTIAL" printed faintly behind the text in a
contract, or the word "DRAFT" printed at a 45 degree angle
behind the text in a draft copy of a letter. In Word, this is called a
watermark, and it's something that you can add to your document quickly
and easily using the Printed Watermark dialog box in Word 2002.

Let the Printed Watermark dialog box do the work for you
You can add a text watermark to a document at any time, whether it is
a new document, a finished document, or a work in progress. You can
choose the text, font, size, color, and positioning you want, and you
can even preview the watermark in your document while the dialog box is
still open. The Printed Watermark dialog box also makes it easy
to change any of the options after printing or saving your document if
you decide you want something else later.

Note To add a watermark, you must be using a view
other than Web Layout view.
To add a text watermark to your document
- On the Format menu, point to Background and then
click Printed Watermark.
- Click Text watermark, and then select or enter the text
that you want.
- Select any additional options that you want, click Apply,
and then click Close.
- To view a watermark as it will appear on the printed page, on the View
menu, click Print Layout.
Tip If you want to use an object, such as an
AutoShape, as a watermark, you must paste or insert it into the document
header. You cannot use the Printed Watermark dialog box to
control these settings. To add a picture watermark to your document,
